~Here are some tough questions, and it's frustrating when you see the answers. You say, "I should have known that." Compliments of Wilson...seriously, Good Luck. I'll post the answers tomorrow and let you brood for an entire day over the fact that you SHOULD know EVERY answer.

1. Name the one sport in which neither the spectators nor the participants know the score or the leader until the contest ends.

2. What famous North American landmark is constantly moving backward?

3. Of all vegetables, only two can live to produce on their own for several growing seasons. All other vegetables must be replanted every year. What are the only two perennial vegetables?

4 Name the only sport in which the ball is always in possession of the team on defense, and the offensive team can score without touching the ball?

5. What fruit has its seeds on the outside?

6. In many liquor stores, you can buy pear brandy, with a real pear inside the bottle. The pear is whole and ripe, and the bottle is genuine; it hasn't been cut in any way. How did the pear get inside the bottle?

7. Only three words in standard English begin with the letters "dw" and they are all common words. Name two of them.

8. There are 14 punctuation marks in English grammar. Can you name at least half of them?

9. Where are the lakes that are referred to in the Los Angeles Lakers?

10. There are 7 ways a baseball player can legally reach first base Without getting a hit. Taking a base on balls (a walk) is one way. Name the other 6.

12. Name 6 or more things that you can wear on your feet beginning with the letter "S."

Here are Natasha's answers..apparently she didnt want to share it with the rest of u..lol so I posted them anyways

Tomorrow?
Screw that...

Here are my answers (yeah, so maybe I'm a total dumb ass, but I gave
it my best):

Rushmore (erosion)?
3) Not a clue

5) coconut ?
6) The fruit is placed into the bottle while it is still teeny, tiny
and on the tree. It grows inside of the bottle until it is ripe and
then both bottle and pear are removed from the tree. Bad explanation,
but you get the gist of it!
7) dwindle, dwarf, dwell (this one was easy!!)
8) comma, colon, semi colon, exclamation point, question mark, full
stop, apostrophe, paranthesis, quotation marks, dash (so was this
one!!!)
9) Dunno...
10) Ask me a cricket question and I'll answer it without a problem.
11) I'd say cucumber, cept you can pickle them. So I'll go with
lettuce. Never heard of frozen, processed, cooked or whatever lettuce!
12) shoes, socks, sandals, slippers, stilettos, strappy shoes, silver
toe ring, support hose (hahahaha... I'm totally having a laugh with

So I'm not even going to post my answers. I think some of your friends cheated and looked them up...maybe they're just brilliant. But I am going to ask..."Are you my friend that doesn't eat that doesn't like fruits with seeds on the outside?" "What do you think, I live on a strawberry farm." and "Hirashima, does it sound Chinese to you?" These are pretty much the two quotes that define you in my head.

Except that I didn't even read/check it before I posted it = not so awesome.

1. Boxing. Scores are counted (10 point system, sucessful hits) by judges (3 in pro, 5 in amateur) and each judge determines which boxer won each round, and the total of all the rounds determines which boxer is the winner according to the judge. Then 2 out of 3, (pro league) or 3 out of 5 (amateur) determined winners by judges determines the overall winner. Though, KOs and TKOs can end a contest before it ends. Hence the questioning of this quiz question can also be considered sligthly flawed. If someone goes down in the first round... uhh... sorta tells everybody who has won...

2. Niagara Falls 1feet per year. Instead of backwards, recede or erosion is more commonly used. Heck, until modern times, before the installation of the hydroelectric dams, they say that the falls receded up to 3metres a year. During nights, only 50% of the normal volume of water goes over the falls. Heck during the day, I can't remember the exact figure... but we no longer ever see the Niagara Falls with 100% water volume capacity. There was a movement a few years ago by a small organization to push for a full capacity of water over Niagara Falls once a year, to see the true power of Niagara... Why do I know this?.. well, I grew up an hour away from Niagara Falls.

Columbia Icefield. Also known as known as being on top of the triple continental divide. This cool place is located in Jasper Nat'l Park in Alberta is the home for 8 major glaciers and is said to feed water to the Pacific, Atlantic, and Arctic. Though, there's argument that the Hudson Bay sorta negates as not being actually part of the Atlantic but the Arctic. And thanks to good 'ol global warming, all of these glaciers are now receding faster than we can say "Holy scheit!" Once again.. how the info? I lived in Banff, just south of Jasper back in '97.

3. Hmmm, being vegetable specific eh? Plenty of perennial fruit plants and herbs. Guess you know that since you were in the farming industry as well eh? Well, the vegetable I can think of is rhubarb, sweet potato/yams. And I say this because my folks grew some rhubarb in the family garden and sweet potato here at my family friends farm. Perennial vegetables (also known as leaf spinaches) are great for the lazy gardener. But if location isn't an issue, if you go to the tropics, there are plenty of perennial vegetables. So, I'm guessing that the question you are asking is temperate climate specific, North America orUSA specitic? When I was in Fiji, I was told that taro (kinda potato) can be grown all the time, without replanting. Heck, I just remembered that in Okinawa there's the Okinawan spinach... In central america the chili pepper family, water cress... Certain types of onions are perennial in Australia. There are cool sub-tropic beans called seven-year beans.. and from the name of it, you can tell that it lasts more than a season. Oh yeah... horse radish, artichokes,... hmmm, definitely more than two. Sorta looked it up in a book just now.

4. Uhhh... baseball? No comments for this one though.

5. What fruits you mean. More than one. Whatever is red, juicy and sweet and grows in the great farm of the Hirashimas. (strawberries), and Cashews. I think I read something somewhere that the seeds on a strawberry is technically the fruit, an the red flesh bit is actually enlarged tissues instead of the ovaries which typically become the fruit when mature. Could be wrong though... it was a while ago since I read a botanist article.

6. While the pear is still a bud, bottles are actully tied to the branches and then cut off when ripe and ready to be liquired up.

7. Dwarf and dweeb?... Hmm, can think of a few names though. Dwayne, Dwan,... hmmm. another word... dwindle?... there's three. Yeah! more than two!

8. Yes I can. Thank goodness I got my TEFL/TESL certificate so I can answer this question. I'm gonna cheat and just look at my keyboard. exclamation point, quotation mark, apostrophe, parenthesis, semi-colon, colon, hyphen, etc...

9. No idea... I don't follow NBA. Though, I'll be watching the Raptors play the Heats in 2 weeks time in Toronto.

10. HBP/Beanball (Hit by a pitch) - also known in Japan as as "dead ball", miscatch by catcher (3rd strike), catcher interference, pinch-runner,... hmmm... I'm missing 2 more... Passed ball.... 1 more... argh!...

11. All of the lettuce family. You know why it's not frozen?... yeah... I know, even if you don't want to know I'm gonna tell you. Because of the high water content. When frozen, and thawed, the thin layers of skin also thaws by going slimy. Actually... I think that I made a mistake, because you can buy canned lettuce soup, and also buy french and chinese meals with cooked lettuce. Well, I'm stumped... a fruit may be?... Hmm, may be something that's not edible but still considered a fruit/vegetable so it's never actually sold... Ahhh, a trick question may be?

12. Shoes, sandals, slippers, sneakers, stockngis, skiis, snowshoes, skates,...

So how did I do?

Cheers,
Paul

Konichiwa Phil again..!!
I was just walking out of the teachers' room when I thought about question number 1:

1. Name the one sport in which neither the spectators nor the participants know the score or the leader until the contest ends.

Well I was thinking about boxing.
But if this question is to be true in all circumstances...
What happens when one boxer takes a pasting but hangs on for all 12 rounds? It's obvious he has lost. He knows it, the crowd knows it.
But the question is only true if it's a draw at the end of 12 rounds and decision is based on points...

I am really hungry to know the answer...

Ooh I am so ooky-ooky about tomorrow!!

Y'all are SUCH know-it-alls!!! Anyway, about number 4... the more I think about it, the more certain I am that it's tennis!! Everytime the ball is returned to your opponent he/she is on the defense. Also your opponent can give you a point by over-hitting a ball or hitting it into the net! So remove the question mark and give me a definite yes on that one!

Strawberry seeds are on the outside?! Eeewwwwwww... I thought those black dots were just decoration!! Bleh! And thanks Paul for referring to fruit as ovaries... yuck! Am thinking I don't wanna be eating anymore ovaries anytime soon!

Cheers... I'm bored!
